Hmmm, complicated question, this one. It used to be simpler when we lived in the Philippines. Summer break was from April till June, the hottest months of the Phil Year. We'd hie off to the beach or to the spring climates of the US of A. But living in Malaysia makes everything turned around. We are experiencing the intense heat, but without the vacation. We are trapped here by the schoolyear that coincides with Australia... Whaaaa!!!!
We used to just stare with mouths agape at the wonderful vacation pictures of friends back home. But now we know better. I sent the kids on a two-week break to go home just to visit the beach -- giving their school an official-sounding excuse letter. Shhhh!
